Barcelona is a city with many interesting monuments, spaces and activities to visit, but some areas are far from each other and others have a certain slope. That is why the easiest way to get around, which will save us time, is public transport.
The TMB (Barcelona Metropolitan Transport) encompasses all transport in the Barcelona metropolitan area and is made up of the metro, buses, trains, railways, trams and the Montjuic cable car.
I recommend that you use Google Maps and check the option to use public transport to organize your route.

También existen suscripciones a Hola Barcelona Travel Card con viajes ilimitados en el metro y otras redes de transporte:

These prices are for Zone 1, which corresponds to Barcelona. The cards work by zones and Barcelona is Zone 1, so if you are not going to leave the city you only have to buy the Zone 1 card.

Types of public transport
Metro
It is my favorite way to travel around Barcelona. It is fast and reaches practically all parts of the city.
The lines are distinguished according to their color and also according to the line number.
Subway schedules
- Sunday to Thursday: from 5 a.m. to midnight.
- Fridays and holiday eves: 5 a.m. to 2 a.m.
- Saturday: continuous service all night.
Buses
It is perfect to combine with the metro to reach areas that it does not reach.
You can use the same ticket between transports for 75 min without having to buy another ticket (except the Bitllet Senzill and the Airport Ticket which only allows transfer to the metro).
It is usually slower due to traffic, but in summer it is a good option.
Trains
The train is perfect if you want to visit places outside of Barcelona, like Montserrat or Sitges.
But remember, if you leave the metropolitan area of the city you will have to buy a specific ticket for it.
